Autism & Developmental Screening Tools
While surveillance is ongoing, developmental monitoring at well-child checks - observing whether a child is reaching his milestones and asking parents if they have concerns - screening uses a validated tool and is recommended to be performed at specific ages or when there is concern. Using a reliable screening tool at recommended ages can help identify delays that otherwise may be easily overlooked during routine surveillance.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that all children receive autism-specific screening at 18 and 24 months of age, in addition to broad developmental screening at 9, 18, and 30 months.
That is where CHADIS comes in. CHADIS has a vast array of evidence-based autism and development screeners and diagnostic tools so you can offer quality patient care, identify delays better than surveillance, and also earn additional income using billable CPT codes.
If a positive score suggests the need for referral, CHADIS has a built-in referral module that effortlessly connects patients to your choice of appropriate providers and can share information between providers approved with an online patient consent form.
Additionally, for the parent or caregiver, CHADIS provides suggestions for parent-child development-promoting activities based on the child’s profile of developmental attainments (e.g. based on Ages and Stages milestones) in the CHADIS Care Portal or to print.
